Year 1744, the weather at night was getting worse, heavy rains accompanied by strong winds, the roar of the water outside was deafening. In a modest house, a mother gave birth to her child. Burlington, New Jersey, also has its own story about the birth of this Jersey Devil Ney. In 1735, Mother Leeds was delivered at a blustery night. He was accompanied by his friends. Many believe, Mother Leeds was a witch. Her son was born normal but then changed form. This baby went from a normal baby to a creature with a horse's head, wings and a tail. The creature was making everyone panic and fly into the chimney. In 1740 a priest tried to capture the creature for almost 100 years but until now not been successful.
New Jersey Devil:
One thing that became the story above equation is the name of 'Leeds'. Where a mother who named Leeds and lived in Leeds Point, all the stories using the name Leeds. Alfred Heston, an Atlantic County Historians believe that could be the devil in question is a baby born to Leeds or a Shrouds. He found that Daniel Leeds bought the land in Great Egg Harbor, New Jersey, in 1699. His family lived in Leeds Point. He also has found a Samuel Shrouds, Sr. came to Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey in 1735 and lived there across the river from the house of Mother Leeds. Three facts that link the Burlington story with other stories. Professor Fred MacFadden from Coppin State College, Baltimore, found that the 'devil' that is mentioned in writings from Burlington early in 1735. He also marks that the word Burlington used to name an area in the city of Burlington to the Atlantic Ocean. This means that this name is used as the birthplace such as Leeds point or Estelville, can be the same place that shows where the legend originated Burlington.
New Jersey Devil sightings occurred in three periods, namely before 1909, 16 to 23 January 1909, and mid-1909.
From the era before 1909, some of the documentation recorded sightings that occurred. In the early 19th century, Commodore Stephen Decatur, a naval academy that was testing cannon firing when he saw a strange creature flying across the sky. Decatur direct the cannon into the strange creature and shot him. The shot on target but failed to make the creature fell. Joseph Bonaparte, former king of Spain and is the brother of Napoleon, saw the New Jersey Devil in Bordentown, New Jersey, between 1816 and 1839 while he was hunting. The apparition he saw happen on the border between New Jersey and New York. This is the last sighting reports which were reported before the 19th century.
1903, Charles Skinner, author of American Myths and Legends, claimed that the New Jersey Devil legend is not over and could occur at the beginning of the new century. New Jersey Devil sightings are never heard again until 16 to 23 January 1909. During one week, the New Jersey Devil shows itself in south Jersey and Philadelphia. The apparition was seen by 1000 people. It is the largest appearance ever.

This story begins on Sunday morning on January 16, 1909. Thack Cozzens of Woodbury, New York saw a creature flying low toward the road with glowing eyes. In Bristol, PA, John Mcowen see and hear a strange creature on the outskirts of the canal. Patrol James Sackville fired at the creature as he flew away. E.W. Minister, Head Post Office of Brispol, PA, also saw a creature with a bird mirib mirib horse head pitched scream. When daylight came, the population Brispol long nails found footprints in the snow. Two people who work around the place have never seen this before footprints.
On Monday, Lowdens from Burlington, New Jersey, found footprints in her yard and around the trash when you're eating. Almost every page of houses there had received such a footprint trail that leads to the tree, leading from one roof to another roof, lost in the middle of the road and stopped in the middle of the field. Impressions like these are also found in Columbus, Hedding, Kinhora, and Rancocas. A group of hunters followed the trail with sniffer dogs but never succeeded.

On 19 January, the Jersey Devil is the longest show appearance for a week. It was at 2.30 am, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Evans of Gloucester was awakened by noise. They went to the window and tried to peek out. They could not believe what they see for 10 minutes and describe the creature as follows.
The creature was as high as three feet with a head like a collie dog, and a face like a horse. Having a long neck, and wings along 2 feet. The back legs like a heron, and hoofed horses. He walked on its hind legs and has two front legs are short and have claws. He did not use the two front legs as we see it. My wife and I fear, I ventured to open the window and tried to throw 'Shoo', and the creature looked at me and flew away.
Tuesday afternoon, 2 professional hunters follow in the footsteps of Satan New Jersey along the 20 miles in Gloucester. Jumping a fence as high as 5 feet on a side street and a width of less than 8 inches. These footprints were found at several sites in south Jersey. A group of observations in Camden, New Jersey to see Jersey Devil. The creature was barking fiercely and eventually fly into the air.
The next day, a Burlington police officer and the Reverand John Pursell of Pemberton saw Satan Jersey. Rev. Pursell said, "I've never seen this before." In Collingswood, New Jersey, a group of police officers witnessed the Jersey Devil flew over the tower of Moorestown. Near the place, John Smith of Maple Shade saw the Jersey Devil at Mount Caramel Cemetery. George Snyder saw the Jersey Devil sightings after John Smith and they describe this form with the same devil. In Riverside, New Jersey, these footprints are also found on the roof of houses
